Remember 2012? Adele reigned over the music world. Marvel and Batman movies dominated the box office. Joe Biden was in the White House. All these things still hold true ten years later.
But for the Portland neighborhood of East Bayside, 2012 seems like a lifetime ago. Urban renewal policies of the 1950s and 1960s had taken their toll, as much of the neighborhood’s historic charm and housing, including its Italian and Jewish quarters, was torn down and replaced with housing projects like Kennedy Park.
