I come from a long line of learned pigs, itinerant hucksters and buskers, but not all as literate as I. My ungulate forebears may have been practicing a rote ruse as they did arithmetic and selected letters to spell out words for crowds of coin-throwers, coached by their owners. So, Peter, what is that animal? C—O—W. The pig pulls the cards. And two plus five, Peter? The pig pulls the seven card. A novelty but not knowledge.
