Michelle Lee, best known for her roles in Knots Landing and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying, takes the lead in the musical Summer Love, now playing at Ogunquit Playhouse through July 16.

Portland Magazine: Have you ever been to Ogunquit before?

Michelle Lee: No. I’ve never even been to Maine. But I’m totally taken with this wonderful city.  I’m in heaven…it’s a magical place with friendly people.

PM: Of course, the people are great! 

PM: What brought you to Maine and the Ogunquit Playhouse in the first place?

ML: Actors always hear about this place. When I told people, they were like, “Oh, that theater!” It’s very respected, has lots of history, and great word of mouth. The play itself got me by the virtue of my character, and I wanted to do a musical.

PM: Any plans to return here?

ML: I can’t wait to come back here and to Ogunquit Playhouse. There’s a real spirit here, real support for this theater. This is a place where I would come to enrich my life.
