Story by Colin W. Sargent
John Calvin Stevens and his son, John Howard Stevens, submitted this whimsical image of what might have been a signature landmark for the City of Portland had the city fathers accepted it. The two architects called their vision “Night View from Baxter Boulevard of Proposed Park for P.P.D.C.” The submission can be seen online if you search “Proposed Park for Portland Public Development Commission, Portland, 1920.”
