Eugene Lafleur was a legendary lawyer in Montreal who visited Kennebunk in the 1880s and fell in love with Gooch’s Beach. To get his yearly fix, he brought his extended family here for scores of summers—maid and butler included—and rented a full floor every summer at the Sagamore Hotel, later the Sea Spray.
