Mirthful Haven

If the Kennebunk River could talk…

By Colin W. Sargent

She’d whisper that style-setter Tim Harrington, founder of Kennebunkport Resort Collection, owned this house for several years.

Undercurrents of earlier worlds compete for psychic space at 4 Josiah Curtis Lane, gateway to Government Wharf in Kennebunkport. Built in 1858, the cottage known at the turn of the 20th century as Sommerlyst is listed this fall for $4.3M. Incomparable views of the yachts and lobster boats gliding by do convey with this waterfront darling. Visitors will be enchanted by the luxurious yet understated finishes.

“It rents for $14,000 a week. For a year, total rentals are well north of $200,000,” says seller Jamie Mandell, principal of KPT Luxury Properties, who (through Noyes Real Estate Agency) is selling “Ocean Pointe” for his parents.
