Members of the yachting set sailing into Diamond Cove’s McKinley Estates have wondered about this forlorn cement bunker for decades. “The Bunker,” built in 1910, faces the boat slips serving Fort McKinley’s Diamond’s Edge Restaurant & Marina from across the narrow cove. For years after World War II it has been a lonely place—a haven for squirrels to hide their acorns.
