I possess a duality of languagesa characteristic of being bilingual where my world view ex- pands meanings are extended and preju- dices expire. That is the privilege of possessing two languages. I name things or people by two names. Everything I experience I do so with the sense of knowing there are mul- tiple ways of reflecting in the presence of what I observe. Everything is multiplied by its currency of what it is named or called. The essence of the everyday changes as the facets of language sparkle across the ordi- nary and make it extraordinaire. Think about the languages you possess. For example do you speak fluent dog Cat Gardening Nature sounds Music How is your world expanded by having knowl- edge of hear- ing know- ing and understand- ing oth- ers or oth- er things This is our shared com- bined privi- legeto be mul- tilingual. We are all lovers of languages of words of expressions and how our lives are enriched as a result. We all understand our world better because we speak to it twice. n Names For 2Names For 2Everything 2Everything 2Deux noms pour tout. By Rhea Ct RoBBins filephoto
